The Backyard Gets a Facelift

Up til this summer, our backyard was left to the dogs. Sure, we mowed and halfheartedly enjoyed the weedy green stuff underfoot, but mostly, we let the dogs own that space. We'd devised a plan to nip and tuck a section of the yard to incorporate a safe play area for the Littles because A) Contrary to popular belief, I cannot be in two places at once. Decidedly, Kovi and Ever devise plans in the wee hours of the morning...clandestinely concocting methods of escape. I imagine the conversation includes wording such as this:

Kovi: Hey, you up?
Ever: Of course I'm up. I'm the insomniac in the house, remember? Been up for hours. Lovely sunrise we had this morning, by the way.
Kovi: Sooo, the MOM is getting clever, using popsicles to lure us into the 'gotcha zone.' We really must strategize.
Ever: Yes...something like a 'one, two, three run in opposite directions' should throw her off.
Kovi: Indeed.
Ever: Shall we synchronize our watches?
Kovi: Nah. I really think we should stick with the synchronizing of poopy diapers. Remember, the more the MOM has to run up the stairs to fetch wipes, the slower she'll be outside.
Ever: Muahahahaha....
Kovi: Muahahahaha....

And B) It's high time we had a backyard we can be proud of.

We've worked and slaved, sodded and trenched our way through thunderstorms of Zeusian proportions and though we have much left to do, our little safe heaven turned out pretty good.
