Ever's Week in Review

Ever is a thumb-sucker, though it's hit and miss as to when it makes it to her mouth... but when it does, the sucking noise can be heard across the house. It's serious.

Uncle Jon went home to shave and shower...he even put on a button-up shirt for his first snuggle with his first neice. I think she was pleased.

Ever sleeps next to me...it was the only way we could both sleep. She's kind of a bed hog though.

Ever's newest girlfriend Leah lent her a ton of CUTE clothes. Here is one of Ever's favorites. Ta-Da.

She's nearly a week old, but has accomplished so much... she speaks Polish now, knows how to scale tall trees in search of good things to eat and has earned her BA in Fine Arts. Whew!
The week has flown by. Doctor's appointments and funky schedules have kept the household in a bit of a fog. Still through the mist, we are all filled love and happiness. Even Woog, whom, initially, was adverse to the new "tu-tul" (everything right now is a turtle, including his baby sister) kisses her flipper feet and gently honks her nose. Beep.

Ever's EKG, Ecocardiogram and Ultrasound reveal that she has VSD, Ventricle Septal Defect- two holes in her heart. The pronosis is good, about 50% that the issue will heal itself. If not, we are prepared to handle whatever comes our way. In the meantime, her doctor's will continue to monitor her closely and will we continue to love and pray for her. Ever is also jaundiced, though not as severly as Woog. Her bili levels are hovering near 16 and over the last couple of days we have gone back and forth to the hospital and doctor's office to have her retested. The poor child has so may little holes in her heals... she's a tough one though...Mom crys more than she. Her weigh has dropped from 7.12 to 7.0 in 5 days and though her pediatrician doesn't want to see any further weigh loss, he feels like she's stablized now. Typically, he explained, jaundiced babies tend to loose more weight initially. I recall Kovi reacting similarly- though now his chunky butt and thighs would never lend credit to his early-life issues.

Next week will hold new adventures- more doctor's appointments and maybe a trip to Babies R Us for a new tiny outfit.

Here are some recent pictures of our sweet, sweet little fighter. Enjoy them.
